Spacebar Clicker
Press the spacebar as many times as you can in 5, 10, or 30 seconds. The timer starts on your first press. Holding the key down does not count — each press must be a full press and release.
This test is designed for physical keyboards. On mobile, try the CPS Test instead.

How the Spacebar Counter Works
We listen for keydown events where the key is Space. The browser's event.repeat
property tells us if the key is being held down (auto-repeat), and we filter those out so only genuine presses count.
The timer starts on your first valid press and runs for your selected duration.
Scoring
Your score is total valid presses. Presses per second is calculated from total presses divided by elapsed time. Higher is better.
Factors
Keyboard type (mechanical vs membrane), key travel distance, and finger stamina affect results. Some keyboards have shorter spacebar actuation distances.
Tips
Use the edge of your thumb for rapid presses. Alternate between thumb and index finger for longer tests. Keep your hand relaxed to avoid cramping.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does holding the spacebar count as multiple presses?
No. We use the browser keydown event repeat property to filter out auto-repeat. Each press requires a full down-and-up cycle. Holding the key down will not inflate your score.
Can I take this test on mobile?
The spacebar clicker is designed for physical keyboards. On mobile devices without a keyboard, the CPS Test is a better alternative since it uses touch input directly.
What is a good spacebar pressing speed?
Most people achieve 5–7 presses per second in short bursts. In 30-second tests, expect 4–5 presses per second as finger fatigue sets in. Consistent practice can improve both speed and endurance.
Why does the page not scroll when I press space?
We prevent the default browser behavior of the spacebar (scrolling) while the test is active so your presses only count toward your score, not page navigation.
