Sequence Memory Test
Watch the tiles light up in order. Then click them in the same sequence. Each round adds one more step. One mistake ends the game. Your score is the longest sequence you reproduced.
How Sequence Memory Scoring Works
The game uses a 3×3 grid of 9 tiles. Round 1 shows a 1-tile sequence. Each subsequent round adds one tile, building on the previous sequence. After watching the full sequence, you reproduce it by clicking tiles in order. A single wrong click ends the game. Your score is the sequence length of the last round you completed.
Scoring
Your score is the longest sequence you reproduced correctly. Higher is better. Rounds completed are also tracked.
Factors
Attention, working memory capacity, and familiarity with spatial patterns affect results. Distractions during the showing phase significantly reduce performance.
Tips
Say tile positions mentally (e.g., "top-left, center, bottom-right"). Chunk the sequence into groups of 2–3. Stay focused during the showing phase — you cannot pause or replay it.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the sequence memory test work?
A 3×3 grid of tiles lights up in sequence. After watching, you click the tiles in the same order. Each round adds one more tile to the sequence. One wrong click ends the game. Your score is the longest sequence you reproduced.
What sequence length is typical?
Most people can repeat sequences of 5–9 items. The exact length depends on how well you chunk information and your familiarity with spatial sequences. With practice, some people reliably reproduce sequences of 12+ steps.
Is this the same as the Simon game?
The concept is similar — watch and repeat a growing sequence — but MetricRally uses its own original grid layout, styling, and progression system. The test is designed for self-improvement tracking rather than competition.
Does this measure intelligence?
No. Sequence memory is a specific cognitive exercise related to working memory capacity. It is not an IQ test or intelligence measure. Use it for entertainment and to track your own improvement over time.
